Coming Up: Shelley Berkley

For this week’s episode of the Ed Bernstein Show, our special guest will be former Nevada Congresswoman Shelley Berkley.

Berkley has been an inspiration to many people due to her achievements as public figure and humanitarian.  She has spent years advocating topics such as immigration reform, human rights, and environmental issues.

Ed will also be discussing certain points of the life of Shelley Berkley, including her time with the United States House of Representatives and her upcoming position with The Touro College & University System.  Touro provides higher education based on Judaic values, and Berkley has recently been announced as the CEO and Senior Provost of their Western Division.

We look forward to meeting with Shelley on Sunday, December 22nd at 3pm and hope you will tune in to catch the conversation.  The show will air on KSNV Channel 3.  Enjoy the show!

Casual Friday with a Cause

EMB Employees enjoy wearing jeans every Friday. What to some looks like a casual day is really their way of participating in Casual Friday with a Cause. Employees donate money each week to wear jeans to work, and Ed matches that contribution at the end of the year. Recently a check in the amount of $4,205.00 was presented to Principal Davis of Lunt Elementary School to be used to purchase books and other learning resources.

Additionally, Edward M Bernstein and Associates’ employees donate their time to Lunt Elementary for such activities as Nevada Reading Week, Teacher Appreciation, putting together Holiday Baskets for families and sponsoring an art contest, the winner’s artwork is used as the firm’s Holiday card. In addition, the winner’s classroom gets a guest appearance on The Edward M Bernstein and Associates Show.
Plans are already underway to volunteer at Science Night and Literacy Night and collection bins for books, totes and supplies are scattered throughout the office. So, the next time you have an opportunity to visit on a Friday, just know the gift of giving is alive & well at EMB!

$104 million verdict one of the top verdicts in 2011

I’m proud to announce that the $104 million verdict won by Edward M Bernstein and Associates was one of the top 10 verdicts in the United States for 2011 according to Lawyers USA.

As you may recall, jurors awarded our client Michael Washington $104 million against drug companies Teva Parenteral Medicines Inc. and Baxter Healthcare Corp for their negligence and defective design of their vials. Mr. Washington is one of the patients who contracted Hepatitis C from the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada.

Worried about gaining weight during the Holidays? According to one recent survey the average adult American puts on an additional 7 to 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas. While this is a time for friends, family and to be thankful, most people aren’t too thankful for the extra weight gain.

My guest this week is noted Celebrity Nutrition & Fitness Expert JJ Virgin. JJ specializes in weight loss resistance related to food allergies and has helped thousands create fast and lasting weight loss through lifestyle changes rather than crash diets. She appears regularly on the TODAY Show, Dr. Phil and Access Hollywood and blogs for the Huffington Post.

The show airs this Sunday at 3:30pm on KSNV/NBC.

This Week on the Ed Bernstein Show

Join me this week on the Ed Bernstein show when I interview Alan Young. Alan is the CEO of Armor Concepts LLC and perhaps unlike any security expert you have met before. Alan never intended to work in security but when homes he was renovating were continually burglarized after having their doors kicked-in; he was forced to learn a quick lesson. He and his brother invented Door Jamb Armor, as a way of protecting their investments.

On the show we speak about how to secure your home from break ins, why alarms are not always the best, and about his inexpensive Door Jamb Armor that anyone can install on their doors. We also show a video of a test of his product conducted by a news show in Memphis.

The show airs this Sunday at 3:30pm on KSNV/NBC.

Happy Veteran's Day!

To all of our former and current servicemen and women I would like to give thanks for all of the personal sacrifices you have made and continue to make to protect our country and our freedom. I wish you all a happy Veteran’s Day and would like to remind you that you deserve every bit of praise for all that you do. The attached pictures were taken during the Veteran’s day parade that ran right in front of our office!

Charity Bake Sale is a Big Success

I would like to take the time to acknowledge the employees of Ed Bernstein and Associates for their hard work and effort during our annual 3 Day Bake Sale benefiting the Susan G. Komen foundation. Since its inception in 1982, The Susan G. Komen foundation has invested nearly $2 billion for breast cancer research, education, advocacy, health services and social support programs in the U.S., and through partnerships in more than 50 countries. I always knew my team was talented but the creativity and heart that I saw poured into each and every item was a surprise even to me. I promised to match all donations received during our fundraising week and between the bake sale, dedication ribbon sales, jean tag purchases and special committee lunch we were able to provide this incredible charity with $2,682 towards Breast Cancer research. Once again I would like to thank you all for your participation in supporting this worthy cause.

Joining me on the Ed Bersntein show this week will be guest Dr. Jeffrey Schwartz, author of “You Are Not Your Brain: The 4-Step Solution for Changing Bad Habits, Ending Unhealthy Thinking, and Taking Control of Your Life”. Dr. Shcwartz is a Research Psychiatrist at UCLA School of Medicine and a seminal thinker and researcher in the field of self-directed neuroplasticity. He has has been featured nationally on prominent TV shows, including Oprah, 20/20, Today Show, Donahue and Leeza and was a consultant to Martin Scorsese while filming the 2004 blockbuster “The Aviator”.

“I’m not good enough. I’m going to fail. He doesn’t really like me. There must be something wrong with me.” At one point or another, we have secretly had these kinds of thoughts. Plagued with self-doubt and indecision in those moments, we may have responded with anxiety, depression, unhealthy habits like overeating, throwing back a few drinks or repeatedly over-checking something, like our texts or email. For many of us, this becomes an unending cycle in which habits become more engrained and automatic. Tune in to hear how this new book combines cutting-edge scientific research with an adaptable 4-step program to help people understand, identify, and free themselves from the deceptive brain messages that hold them back.

The show airs this Sunday at 3:30pm on KSNV/NBC.

This Week on the Ed Bernstein Show

This week I had the pleasure of interviewing Rick Faugno, star of Palazzo’s hit “Jersey Boys”. Rick will be leaving the production on Oct 9th and will be focusing on his new Sammy Davis Jr.-inspired one man show, “Body and Soul” at Las Vegas Hilton’s famous Shimmer Cabaret. We will also talk about his latest movie role which he plays the title character in the indie film “Virgin Alexander,” which centers on a 26-year-old virgin who happens to be named Alexander who happens to fall for a prostitute. The film won top honors at the Las Vegas Film Festival last month.

Also on the show is Master Illusionist, Jan Rouven, his tendency towards highly dangerous acts also gave him the nickname “The Man with Nine Lives”. Direct from Europe, he brings a new hair-raising, death-defying show to Las Vegas with Illusions at the FAME Theater inside Clarion Hotel & Casino. The show airs this Sunday at 4pm on KSNV/NBC !

Women are no longer the only ones cracking the code for health and beauty well into middle age and beyond. I had the chance to sit down with Dr. Jeffry Life for this week’s addition of the Ed Bernstein Show. Dr. Jeffry Life’s remarkable transformation from an ordinary man with a paunchy, declining body into the healthy, muscled physique of someone half his age has re-set the bar for what men clan look and feel like after 40. Join me as Dr. Life touches on his groundbreaking blend of exercise, nutrition, and leading edge medicine while discussing his book.
