Distracted Drivers: In Summer, Men Have Accidents Ogling Women, Says Study
Created on August 9, 2010A new study says summer not only brings bikinis and warm weather, but more car accidents. According to a study by a British car insurance company, car accidents rise in the summer, especially when men are driving. The study found 29 percent of men admit to being distracted by women's attire in the summer, compared to just 3 percent of women who had the same problem because of men’s clothing. The insurance company says in the summer men make 16.4 percent more insurance claims than women. The study also says road rage and aggressive driving during hot summer months also causes men to get in more crashes, not to mention people are driving more in general.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety did another study of fatal accidents by gender from 1975 through 1998. It found male drivers account for the highest accident risks. “Contrary to the conventional wisdom of men, women are much safer drivers. Significantly safer," said Russ Rader, a spokesman with the institute.
To every man reading this, I’m not saying I agree with these studies, but if you are involved in an accident, call my office at 702-240-0000, text us at 24-0000, or go to www.edbernstein.com.
