Man facing charges after bicyclist killed in Summerlin

Created on August 4, 2010

An article in the Las Vegas Review Journal says a man who struck and killed a bicyclist in Summerlin Tuesday morning has been charged with drunken driving.

Police say the accident happened just before 8 a.m. near Rampart Boulevard and Del Webb Boulevard. The article also says the driver hit the bicyclist from behind and sent him into the shoulder. Police arrested the driver, 38-year-old Feliciano Gonzales. However, the name of the bicyclist, who died at University Medical Center, was not released. Police say he was 27 years old.

This story is a prime example as to why I've tried to be a strong advocate against drunk driving in the Las Vegas community. I've worked as a spokesperson for MADD and STOP DUI so I understand the emotional and physical damage caused by people who drink and drive.
