A group of cyclists was hit from behind by a pickup truck Thursday morning, leaving five dead and four injured.

The cyclists were participating in an annual ride from Henderson to Nipton, CA and back when the truck hit the lead part of the pack from behind.

Police do not know what caused the truck to hit the cyclists, although drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved in the incident. The driver of the truck did not flee the scene, and has been cooperative with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
