On Wednesday, a 34-year-old man from Texas was sentenced to a minimum of six years in prison after causing the death of a moped driver in a DUI crash in Las Vegas.
According to the arrest report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred at Russell Road and Rogers Street, near Decatur Boulevard. Police also said that the man admitted to drinking alcohol before the crash.
Las Vegas investigators said that data from the Lamborghini Huracan shows the man was driving over 140 miles per hour just moments before he struck a 58-year-old on a moped in June of 2021, who died at the scene.
Earlier this year, the man pleaded guilty to a felony count of DUI resulting in death and was sentenced on Wednesday by District Judge Jasmin Lilly-Spells to between six and 20 years in Nevada state prison.
