A motorcyclist has died in an accident on the westbound on the southern belt of I-215 in Henderson, close Valle Verde Drive on Monday.
According to Nevada State Police, the accident occurred around 6 a.m. when a blue Jeep was in the center lane of the freeway and a sporty black motorcycle crashed into it. The Police said that the motorcycle was speeding at the time of the collision but it is unclear if the operator was impaired.
The Jeep swerved after being hit by the motorcycle and ended up crashing into the center median. The driver of the Jeep then overcorrected and swerved onto the shoulder of the road. As a result, the rider of the motorcycle was thrown from their bike.
After arriving at the hospital the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The coroner’s office is expected to release details shortly.
The freeway was closed for a short time on Monday morning, but reopened quickly.
