Last week, on April 13th, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Travis Smaka was conducting his routine patrol on I-15 around 1:00 AM. Smaka noticed a stopped vehicle and automobile in the travel lane stopped to check out the situation.

While Trooper Smaka was standing by the stopped vehicle another car being operated by an intoxicated driver slammed into Smaka’s patrol car.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident and Smaka quickly radioed for help. The incident shut down several lanes of the freeway near Allegiant Stadium for a few hours.

The intoxicated driver was arrested for DUI. No more information is available at this time.
