Last Tuesday in the west Las Vegas valley, one person died after a six-vehicle crash.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Larry Hadfield, the crash occurred around 2:30 pm on July 19th at the intersection of Torrey Pines Drive and Washington Avenue.

A 2007 Toyota Rav4, driven by an 18-year-old, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Washington when he failed to stop at a red light, striking a 2016 Mazda CX-5 that was turning left in the intersection, according to LVMPD.

As a result of the crash, the Toyota caught fire and in addition to the two initial vehicles that collided, four other vehicles were impacted.

The crash and car debris impacted four other vehicles in the area. The Toyota also caught fire after the crash.

The Las Vegas woman driving the Mazda was taken to University Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead, while the driver of the Toyota was also taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police said he was booked in absentia for reckless driving and DUI-related charges.
