A young driver speeding in the Las Vegas Valley and has been accused of causing a crash that killed a motorcyclist on the evening of October 24th .
Around 8:11 p.m. the young motorist was driving a 2008 Honda Accord “at a high rate of speed” on Patrick Lane when they swerved into oncoming traffic to pass a car that was stopped and waiting to make a left turn onto Tenaya Way.
The driver of the Honda then struck a 59-year-old Las Vegas man traveling on a 1995 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The driver of the Harley Davidson was attempting to make a left turn from Tenaya onto Patrick Lane when the incident occurred.
The motorcyclist was rushed to University Medical Center where he unfortunately passed away. Police said the youth was showing signs of impairment at the scene and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was booked at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.
The identity and age of the motorist has not been revealed.
