Hopeful State Treasurer Injured In Accident
On the evening of May 2nd, a Councilwoman running for State Treasurer, was traveling in her 2020 BMW on Centennial Parkway when she was hit by a car attempting to turn left across oncoming traffic.
The driver of a Chevy Impala attempted a left-hand turn to enter an apartment complex when the Councilwoman’s BMW was struck.
Both drivers claim the other was responsible for the accident. The Impala driver claims that the Councilwoman had changed lanes without signaling and appeared to be turning, while the Councilwoman claims the other driver was at fault and denied any accusation of driving while distracted.
It was determined by police that the driver of the impala was at primary fault for failing to yield, but that the Councilwoman was also at fault for failing to maintain a single lane of travel.
The Councilwoman was taken to UMC with injuries including a concussion, and the driver of the Impala later delivered themselves to the hospital as well.
