Xarelto: What You Should Know About the Effects and Victims

Victims of Xarelto Effects Deserve A Lawyer

The prescription medication Xarelto, also known as Rivaroxaban, is often used to reduce the clotting of blood, and also may reduce a person’s risk of having a stroke. In addition, Xarelto is sometimes prescribed to patients with pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, atrial fibrillation, or other conditions. Close to four million people are prescribed Xarelto each year, which is twice as many than were given the similar anticoagulant, Pradaxa. Blood-thinning medications such as these are known to cause internal bleeding, among other health risks, and Xarelto has proven to be no exception. Other adverse effects of this medication include possible brain hemorrhaging, reduced levels of platelets, vomiting, anemia and even a lowered functionality of certain vital organs. Last year, nearly seven hundred instances of serious side effects from Xarelto were reported to the F.D.A. That is around 170 more than were reported from using Pradaxa. In fact, the results of a Phase III study on the subject showed that at least one adverse side effect occurred in seventy-three percent of participants that consumed Xarelto. It is believed by some that the F.D.A. was pushed to quickly approve this drug, which may have left its complete safety profile questionable.
