Driver Hauling Onions Killed in Rollover Crash North of Las Vegas A tractor-trailer driver carrying onions was killed on the morning of March 16th in a rollover crash roughly 40 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The crash was called in around 10:15 a.m. on U.S. 95, near Cold Creek Road.  For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the highway on the right-side dirt shoulder before it overturned in the desert. According to officials with the Nevada Highway Patrol, the driver was trapped and unfortunately died at the scene of the crash.  Nevada Highway Patrol released photos of the wreckage, with crates of onions scattered across the southern Nevada desert. Troopers shut down one lane of U.S. 95 and fire crews from Creech Air Force Base responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation. Truck accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area.
