Las Vegas Driver with Cocaine Arraigned for DUI Crash on Thanksgiving Nov. 28, 2019 Las Vegas driver with cocaine in pocket arraigned for DUI crash on Thanksgiving  According to an arrest report, a driver was found with a rock of cocaine in his pocket and was involved in a fatal crash just a block away from his house on Thanksgiving morning. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police believe it to be a DUI crash. On Thursday, Nov. 28, on the corner of Russell and Durango, Nathaniel Postelle was arrested after the two-car collision.  At around 8:35 a.m., a motorist drove through a green light in her 2013 Nissan Sentra. Postelle, in a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder, ran a red light and slammed into the Sentra. The 12-year-old passenger in the Sentra was immediately rushed to University Medical Center, while the Sentra driver, 32, died at the scene from blunt force injuries. Postelle overlooked wearing his seatbelt, which resulted in him striking his head on the windshield of his car during the collision, as stated in an arrest report. As the officers arrived, he was found tending to a head injury. He supposedly had bloodshot, watery eyes and a heavy aroma of alcohol on his breath and body. Although the incident occurred early Thursday morning, Postelle said that he was on his way home from a friend’s house after having a beer at 3 a.m. and dozing off for part of the night before heading home. Postelle’s blood was drawn at around 10:13 a.m. and 11:13 a.m. after a warrant for a blood sample was obtained, and an officer found a gram of cocaine in his right front pocket during the search. The initial breath test also showed his blood-alcohol level to be twice the legal limit.  On Friday, in a court hearing, they set his bail at $250,000, and he will appear in court on Tuesday morning for another court hearing. According to court records, he faces charges of DUI resulting in death, failing to obey traffic devices and drug possession.  Ed Bernstein handles personal injury cases in Las Vegas for you or a loved one.
