Las Vegas Officials Identify Young Adult Who Died in High-Speed Crash According to Las Vegas authorities, a 23-year-old man, identified as Jeffrey Michael Gonzales, was killed in a high-speed collision on Thursday when an impaired driver struck his vehicle. Police confirmed the impaired driver was a minor. Gonzales was driving north in a 2013 Nissan Sentra on South Windmill Lane at 8:44 a.m. when the juvenile driver in a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country minivan went through a red light at Windmill and Torrey Pines Drive, according to the initial findings. Gonzales died shortly after the collision. The chain of events that led to the collision began earlier that day at Sierra Vista High School. Reportedly, Clark County School District officers attempted to stop the juvenile driver's van for "suspected narcotics-related behavior." However, the van drove away, and police did not pursue it. The juvenile was driving at an "extreme speed" near Canarelli Middle School, leading to the collision. The youth was in critical condition and taken to University Medical Center. According to reports, the juvenile showed indications of drug intoxication. He faces charges of DUI resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death according to police. Due to the individual’s age, their name has not been revealed. Further information has not been made available and the investigation is still ongoing.   “Car accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area.
