Cyclist Dies After Striking Semi-Truck Trailer in East Las Vegas

Last Friday morning in East Las Vegas a bicyclist struck a semi-truck’s trailer resulting in the cyclist's death. Officers were called to the intersection of East Charleston Boulevard and South Sandhill Road at 6:51 a.m after a cyclist lost control of their mountain bike causing them to run into the rear of a semi-truck trailer. Surveillance video has shown the cyclist riding their mountain bike on the sidewalk with the semi-truck traveling in the far left lane of the road traveling East. According to the police, the cyclist attempted to cross over Charleston Boulevard and struck the rear portion of the trailer. The cyclist died at the scene. Metro Lt. Aaron Lee said the driver of the semi-truck left the scene following the crash but returned when notified by police. The 51-year-old driver showed no signs of impairment and the crash remains under investigation.   “Car accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area.
