Four Pedestrians Hit in Las Vegas Area in One Morning

LVMPD is investigating four separate incidents on Las Vegas Roadways on the morning of August 9th that involved pedestrians being struck by vehicles. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says that around 4 am, there was a crash involving a pedestrian near South Rainbow Boulevard and Palmyra Avenue. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene but the pedestrian was pronounced dead by first responders. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this incident. Investigations of another crash involving a pedestrian began around 4:30 am near West Flamingo Road and Arville Street. Once again, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The driver of a white pickup truck, suspected of striking the pedestrian, fled the scene. The suspect was later apprehended and taken into custody. Later in the morning, around 8:30 am, LVMPD received another report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian near Main Street and Washington Avenue. The 29-year-old driver of the suspected vehicle fled the scene, but was later arrested by Las Vegas police officers. The pedestrian involved in this incident was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition. Just minutes after the third pedestrian incident of the morning, police began investigating yet another crash involving a pedestrian near Washington Avenue and Mt. Hood Street. The pedestrian involved in this crash was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.       “Car accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area.
