  In the community Now through May 29: The Butterfly Habitat at Springs Preserve will be open during Spring from 10 to 3 pm, daily. Guests will witness free-flying butterflies interact with beautiful seasonal plants so that they may emerge with a better understanding of the environment needed for the survival of these spectacular animals.  March 23: At 10 am, The Greek Independence Day Celebration will be taking place at City Hall. Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman will join the celebration for flag raising, Greek refreshments and entertainment in honor of Greek independence. Also, the College of Liberal Arts' University Forum lecture series presents "Supernova 1987A: Thirty Years Later" a talk by Stephen H. Lepp in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UNLV. The talk will begin at 7:30pm in the Marjorie Barrick Museum at UNLV. March 24: Every Friday through the end of the season, Lee Canyon Ski Area is offering $25 Dollar Lift Tickets with $5 of every ticket going to The High Fives Foundation. Also, Shadow Ridge High School is hosting a big band swing dance with live music and swing dance instruction from 6-10 pm. March 25: Hailed as an ”epic night in gospel music," the Stellar Awards are returning to the Las Vegas Orleans Arena. Also, from 8-10:30 am, The REAL RESULTS Fitness North location is having their Grand Opening Charity Workout benefiting The Southern Nevada Burn Foundation. The two- hour event will feature a one-hour heart pumping workout plus healthy snacks, goodies, and giveaways. Attendees will also have the chance to tour the gym and speak to the coaches in a one-on-one setting. March 26: From 10-5pm the Artisan Craft Festival is coming to the Ponderosa Room at Sam’s Town. Admission and parking are free to all ages and the vendors will have a variety of unique and ornate wares. March 25 & 26: From 10-4pm the Boy Scouts of America are holding “Art at the Square” in Town Square. This is a great opportunity to buy quality art and custom crafts while supporting a good cause.
