Car Crash Kills 15-year-old Boy in Northeast Las Vegas A 15 year-old boy passed away in a car crash on September 16th near Las Vegas’ northeast side. The boy was said to be in a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by a box truck.  The crash occurred at the intersection of East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Walnut Road at 7:06 am.. A 1998 Ford E-350 was heading east on Lake Mead and failed to stop for a red light. The vehicle then struck a Toyota Camry that was transporting the 15 year-boy.  The Camry driver had also disregarded the red light while attempting to turn left onto Walnut. The front of the E-350 collided with the right side of the Camry.  The boy, who has yet to be identified by authorities, was treated at the scene by medical personnel but unfortunately passed away later at the hospital. Police reported the driver of the E-350, Derek Herman, 52, of Las Vegas, remained at the scene and showed signs of impairment. Herman had minor injuries and police say he was arrested for “appropriate charges,” without any specifics.   “Car accidents are on the rise in the Las Vegas area.
